I owe you an explanation, my friends and readers.

I was a blogging or vlogging fool just a couple weeks ago.  I was posting a video every weekday and then just like that, nothing.

Nothing for two weeks.

No word, no explanation, no nothing.

I am finally coming up for air and here is the word, a little overdue 🙂

We purchased a house!

I was afraid to say anything as we were going through the escrow process for fear that something would happen and it would all fall apart.

Why do we think that way?  I guess that’s for another post.

Three years ago, my husband was laid off from his job.  This happened right as Maddox was 2 weeks old and we were taking him up to Stanford for his medical stuff.

Needless to say it was a traumatic time in my life and it led to us eventually having to short sell our home.  The home that we had built from the ground up, that I loved.

I didn’t realize how incredibly traumatizing that had been for me until we began the process of looking to purchase another home a few months ago.

I went through so many emotional ups and downs.  I backed out of an offer that we had put on home that had gotten accepted and had many more stressful days worrying about the financial commitment, and everything I could worry about.

The end result is that we found a great home, close to where we have been living and it will be a wonderful place to raise our boys.

I had to just jump in and take the leap, conquer my fear and believe that it will all be o.k.

Needless to say, moving is a bitch.  Thank goodness for my parents who came to be with us for a month to help get us moved.

Thank goodness for Papa, who loves a great project!  We sure kept him mighty busy!

I thought I would show you some before and after photos of what I have been working on instead of blogging the last couple weeks!

Here is the small family room before:13332551_8_0

Peach is definitely not my color…

IMG_3137We replaced the baseboards with a thick white base, and painted it “pale sunshine”.  To me it looks like a completely different, and much happier space!

Next… the eating nook… lots of potential, but again, so not my style.

Papa worked his tail off for days to construct a “banquette” ( I had no idea that is what it was called until a couple days ago!)… and here is the space now.

 Drumroll pleeeeease…..

The lighting is a little weird, as photography is not one of my many hobbies, but I think you can get the idea.

So as you can see, things have been a little hectic around here ( what else is new?), but it is shaping up nicely.  I am so happy to have a space that is ours to make our own, to create together and continue to raise happy, healthy boys.

And what a difference white trim paint makes… wow!

I am hoping to come up for air and get back to my daily posts!

What have your last couple weeks looked like?
