I wish I could say that I was one of those people who, in times of stress or emotion, clean like crazy or don’t eat. Nope. Not me.
What do I do?
You guessed it, eat like crazy! I have to say, it does help in the moment…
This is the note I wrote to myself the other day and posted it right by my fridge handle.
So… if I can’t eat crap, what is a girl to do?
You guessed it- shop! Ikea happens to be right by the airport in Portland, so after dropping off my mom, you know where I headed!
A little retail therapy and voila!, new bathroom decor for me!
And the towels matched the elephants that we already had!
What I love about Ikea for stuff like this is that it is inexpensive, and although the quality isn’t the best out there, when they start to fall apart, I have already moved onto the next decor idea.
I was on a roll…
Our closet was in need of some serious help.
Warning… I am really going to show you the “before” of the closet.
The clothes and shoe hording issues we can address in another post. The problem really is that the closet is too small…. ( that’s what I tell myself). Denial is another post as well…
Onto the organization!
Ta Da! It was an issue of re-purposing. I had these shelves on the floor intended for use as shoe racks. As you could see, that wasn’t happening!
Gotta love Ikea for the $3 plastic shoe tubs! Good stuff.
I have to say, all in all I found it to be a much more effective coping strategy!
Now if I could only fold my laundry and clean the bathrooms…
How do you cope with stress or emotion? What is your therapy of choice?
